2K Sports announced this morning that last year’s installment of NBA 2K18 in the long-running NBA 2K franchise is now the best-selling in the history of the series.

After surpassing 10 million copies sold, NBA 2K18 has also pushed the franchise’s lifetime sale past 80 million. The NBA 2K series first began back in 1999 but the highest-selling editions of the game have absolutely come within the past five years.

This sales milestone makes a fair amount of sense when gauging NBA 2K’s popularity every single year. Plus, NBA 2K18 also had the benefit of launching last year on practically every platform around with PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and even Xbox 360 and PS3 having the game available on their system. When there are around 200 million people who can purchase your game, it makes more sense for the sales numbers to then be higher.

As for what’s next, we’ll have to see if NBA 2K19 can match these impressive numbers when it launches in a little over a month. NBA 2K19 will be released on September 11 for PC, Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. If you haven’t pre-ordered it for yourself just yet, be sure to head over to Amazon to do so.
