Intrepid Studios released a long gameplay video of its upcoming MMORPG Ashes of Creation.

The video showcases about fifty minutes of gameplay from the friends and family pre-alpha test build of the game.

We get to see dungeons, the overworld, the UnderRealm, and even one of the most relevant features of the game, a village node that is designed to grow dynamically, spawning challenges to the players defending it like rampaging monsters. That’s also featured in the video.

One of the most interesting things we see is that Ashes of Creation appears to mix innovative elements with nostalgic ones. Nowadays actual danger is pretty much a rarity outside of endgame raids in most MMORPGs. Having actual treacherous walkways from which you can fall to your death if you make a misstep would probably be considered crazy by many modern developers. Can’t ask your players to actually be careful, can you?

On top of the gameplay, we get to experience just how gorgeous the game looks. Considering that the game’s Kickstarter campaign ended just last summer, it’s impressive to see how far Ashes of Creation has progressed.

You can check out the video below. If you want to see more, you can watch a recent trailer featuring the UnderRealmanother trailer showing beautiful vistasone more with the same focus, an impressive gameplay video showing different seasons, a trailer showcasing the freehold settlements and more gameplay giving a look on playable monsters.

Ashes of Creation is in development for PC and should enter a beta phase some time this year.
