Speaking to Business Insider, a representative from Blizzard Entertainment said that cross-play is, “a question of when, not if.” It’s important to note that this is not an official announcement, nor is the PC version of the game mentioned in the original article. Blizzard has only made it clear that they’re working with both Microsoft and Sony to enable cross-play between the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo III and other platforms.

Back in late September, Sony backtracked on their initial stance on cross-play between Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, to the dismay of many PlayStation gamers. Shawn Layden recently spoke about the company’s decision via the PlayStation Blogcast giving players some insight into the whole situation. The quick turnaround was surprising, considering one of Sony’s first responses to outrage back in early September the company’s chief executive, Kenichiro Yoshida, said that they believed PS4 to be “the best place to play.”

But hey, it’s here, it’s being worked on, and we can all rest a bit easier knowing we’ll be able to play all sorts of different games with our friends. Diablo III: Eternal Collection will launch for Nintendo Switch on November 2.
