It’s officially November, so we can now merrily push such unnerving concepts as creepy carnival folk to the back of our minds until Halloween rears its ugly head once again next year. Or at least we could if Fortnite’s latest trailer wasn’t all about freaky clowns.

Fortnite’s sixth season is currently in full swing and the ever-changing game continues to add increasingly bizarre alterations in order to keep it feeling fresh and fun. The latest addition to the frantic battle royale shooter is the simple and humble party balloon.

Balloons can be used to gain altitude and allow players to quickly advance upon opponents who may have higher ground. The distance travelled is determined by how many balloons you have.

You can see the recently added item in action in the trailer below as clowns brandishing enormous mallets silently ascend the sides of buildings to take out their unsuspecting rivals, and a trio of players rush a fort with a little help from their newly gained balloons.

Fornite is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android featuring cross-play between each platform. The world’s most popular game is currently in the midst of its Halloween themed event Fortnitemares.
