We’ve known for quite some time that Google has been planning to dip its toes a bit more into the gaming scene and now, it seems that they’re ready to unveil a bit more of what they’ve been working on.

Announced this morning via invitations to the event, Google revealed that it will be holding a presentation centered around video games during GDC next month in San Francisco. The keynote will take place exactly one month from today on Tuesday, March 19 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST. Other than these brief details, Google gave no other explanation of what to expect.

This press event comes just a few short months after Google tested out its new Project Stream technology by allowing some to play Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Project Stream gave players the chance to play Odyssey via the Google Chrome browser without ever having to own the game itself. The test was more or less deemed as a success for Google, and also seems to indicate the direction that the company could be going in with gaming.

It seems apparent that the gaming industry as a whole is starting to gravitate more towards including streaming technology in the future as Microsoft even has its own streaming tech lined up with Project xCloud. It’s pretty likely that Google will reveal something related to streaming next month and in the process could be the first to market with some sort of “streaming box” of sorts ahead of its competitors. There’s a lot of intrigue stemming from today’s announcement and I’m looking forward seeing what Google has to show off next month.

Of course, we’ll keep you posted here at DualShockers once we learn more about what Google has to say next month.
