Good news, everyone! Mario can stop on his sabbatical “odyssey” and is back at work. After a quick stint of unemployment, video gaming’s most iconic character is back to work at what he does best: plumbing.

News comes by way of Nintendo Japan themselves, who updated Mario’s official profile on their website. Eagle-eyed Redditor /u/TheCrystalCave discovered that the description now notes that his “occupation is a plumber.”

Now I know what you’re thinking: when was he not a plumber? As late as last August, according to a report by Kotaku. In the same exact section of Nintendo’s website, Mario’s bio was slightly different:

According to the translation as provided by Kotaku, the bio instead said:

All around sporty, whether it’s tennis or baseball, soccer or car racing, he [Mario] does everything cool. As a matter of fact, he also seems to have worked as a plumber a long time ago.

Now what happened in between then and now? A lot for Mario, actually. Adding to his obviously impressive resume, he had a terrific appearance in Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch, landing him a perfect 10 out of 10 from DualShockers. Not only that, but he is branching out extracurricular life, announcing that he will be attending a new tennis tournament in Mario Tennis Aces. When it comes down to it, the best way to land a job is to further develop these exact types of skillsets.

Of course, this isn’t the only shocking bit of Mushroom Kingdom trivia we’ve gotten lately. Super Mario Odyssey’s producer Yoshiaki Koizumi made the fact canon that Toad’s mushroom top is not a hat, but just an extension of his head. Yeah, that was a fact we didn’t want to know either — just like the fact that Toadettes are not necessarily female, or that Birdo most certainly is one.

With that said, everyone go offer Mario Mario a congratulations on LinkedIn.
