When considering your favorite tactical combat titles you’d be forgiven for immediately thinking of classics like X-Com where you must fight tooth and nail against an incoming alien threat. However, Swedish development studio The Bearded Ladies Consulting is taking that same strategic approach for their title Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, except bringing one major difference to the field; your team is made up of animals.

The launch trailer for the title, which can be seen below, showcases the characters that will appear in-game. Unlike most titles that feature anthropomorphic animals as their leads, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is not a light and fluffy endeavor. Instead, it’s a gritty wartime tale which takes place through decaying city streets following the fall of mankind.

Your mutated animal squad consists of an aggravated boar, a smack-talking duck, a humanoid lady with frog-like qualities, and a stylish one-eyed fox. Each of these characters has their own unique abilities with more upgrades to be unlocked throughout the game as they loot everything in sight to craft new weapons and armor.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden brings turn-based tactical combat to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The game is available now and its intricate combat system has already proven to be enough to get the DualShockers staff hooked within its opening hour.
