While there has been much less sweating over memory on the Nintendo 3DS (as compared to the Nintendo Switch), Pokémon fans may be interested to know that the upcoming games will sport a healthy memory increase from the previous generation. According to the Amazon Japan listing for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, either game will require 3.6 GB of memory.

To put that in context, last year’s Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon were both only 3.2 GB’s each at launch — before any of the updates required due to bugs. But even the slight 400 MB difference does constitute a notable increase; clocking in a 12.5% of the original download, you can’t help but wonder what is packed in with the new title.

For those trying to keep there eyes on (or clear space) for their Nintendo 3DS, the 3.6 GB translates to 29500 blocks.

Of course, you only need to worry about memory size for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon if you are grabbing either title digitally. An especially attractive option is to pick up one of the couple dual packs announced, featuring both games.

Additionally, a brand new trailer for both Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon was revealed last month during Nintendo’s Fall Direct, highlighting some of the main differences between versions and what people pre-ordering can expect.

Both Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon release on November 17, 2017 exclusively for Nintendo 3DS.
