Last October, developers from Quantic Dream, Sony, and Slightly Mad Studios left their companies and formed Interior Night, a developer whose goal is to create “narrative games aimed at a mature TV audience.” It seems that they will finally be able to achieve that vision as SEGA Europe announced today that they are partnering with the studio to develop a new narrative-driven IP.
This partnership is part of SEGA’s recent effort to find and work with new studios in order to create interesting new IPs. Most recently, they announced Theme Hospital spiritual successor Two Point Hospital with developer Two Point Studios. It’s neat to see the publisher branching out and creating new games with new developers in genres they haven’t dipped their toes into in the past.
John Clark, Executive Vice President of Publishing at SEGA Europe, had the following to say about the partnership with Interior Night:
“Signing this deal with Interior Night is another great step for SEGA in terms of working with talented studios whether they’re established or embarking on a new journey whilst exploring our desire to launch new franchises and experiences. We’re really looking forward to working with Interior Night as their combined talents and imaginations evolve into a really strong narrative driven gaming experience.”
Meanwhile, Interior Night’s CEO Caroline Marchal, who has previously worked at Quantic Dream on titles like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, also commented on working with SEGA Europe for her studio’s first big game:
“We are very excited to work with SEGA on our first narrative game. SEGA have demonstrated a strong desire to take risks, innovate and work collaboratively with studios. With their help and support, we’re confident Interior Night can deliver a great narrative experience to existing gamers and to a broader audience.”
